Black and white 1 hd Bluetooth#
Pairing the ear (1) to a smartphone or tablet is as easy as pressing a button on the side of the charging case which puts the earbuds into Bluetooth pairing mode. The design of the Nothing ear (1) is refreshing and modern. In general, true wireless earbuds are getting better at picking up voices thanks to beamforming microphones. I don’t normally like using true wireless earbuds when I’m making phone calls or taking part in video chats, but the ear (1) worked surprisingly well for me. The microphones are also very good at picking up a user’s voice. When it comes to phone calls, the ear (1) earbuds are equipped with Clear Voice Technology that reduces background noises like wind or loud air-conditioning units. When you’re ready to let the world back in, there’s also a Transparency mode that feeds a certain amount of ambient sound into the audio mix so the user can hear things like travel announcements or potential hazards. Maximum mode is available for listening in noisier areas like an aircraft, a busy office or while walking on a street next to heavy traffic. There’s also a Light ANC mode that’s ideal for moderate noise levels. The ANC function has three high-definition mics that sample and filter out unwanted sounds so the listener can focus on the music, video and podcasts they are enjoying without having to put up with distracting sounds like the sound of a train running over tracks or the noise of an aircraft engine. The oval shape creates an effective acoustic seal which, in turn, helps the Hybrid ANC function to be even more effective. The ear tips are robust and should withstand heavy-duty use. The app also handles the switching between the ANC functions and the earpieces feel so comfortable, thanks to the high-quality material used.
Black and white 1 hd upgrade#
There’s a free downloadable app for Android and iOS devices that can customize the touch controls as well as upgrade the firmware. Getting the ear (1) up and running is simple. The secret to the Nothing ear (1) sound quality is the high-quality oval ear tips made from. I would use the ANC function on these even though I normally turn ANC off on true wireless earbuds. The ANC is ideal for keeping out unwanted sounds when on a train journey, exercising at the gym or simply working away at a desk in a noisy office. However, the ear (1) are one of the few earbuds I’ve reviewed that offer an effective ANC function thanks to a hybrid two-stage process. Many true wireless earbuds with an ANC function don’t always make a massive difference when it’s turned on. All the materials used are high quality and they give the ear (1) a luxurious feel.Īctive noise canceling (ANC) is built into the ear (1) and there is also a Transparency mode for safety. The whole presentation is superb and the charging case looks so stylish. These earbuds are incredibly good-looking and are supplied with high-quality, oval, silicone ear tips in three different sizes. The earpieces are marked with a red and white spot to put an end to confusion over which one goes in which ear.
The earbuds come in a gorgeously clear charging case that can be recharged using a USB-C cable or Qi-compatible wireless charging mat. The ear (1) are exquisitely packaged in a shrink-wrapped in a tamper-proof box so you know the earbuds are box fresh and haven’t been tried by anyone else.
The black version of the ear (1) is striking and smart. The 1.78kg carbon footprint of the ear (1) will be revealed on a new packaging label, which the company hopes will help users to make better-informed purchases. Nothing has confirmed that ear (1) earbuds are also now carbon neutral. Nothing has worked with internationally recognized third parties, like Geneva-headquartered SGS, to independently assess and neutralize the carbon footprint of the first product in the brand’s ecosystem.
Black and white 1 hd update#
So, if you’re tempted by the Nothing ear (1) with their brand-new look and impeccable green credentials, I thought I’d update my original review so you can decide if they might be the right true wireless earbuds for you. They are also now certified carbon neutral. They went on to sell 100,000 pairs shortly after the launch and now the guys at Nothing have announced a new version of the earbuds in a smart black finish that looks every bit as good as the original version. When I got my hands on a pair of these stylish earbuds I was impressed. My trusty hype detector let me down, big time.
